When it comes to your business image across online and offline platforms, it’s important to look the part. Fortunately, it no longer requires expensive software and an indepth knowledge of Photoshop macros to create awesome-looking graphics for your business. Here are three free tools that you can use instead!
- 1. Pixlr
Pixlr is an online image editing tool that offers an amazing amount of versatility. This comes from the fact that it has two different applications: Pixlr Express and Pixlr Editor.
Pixlr Express allows you to do simple editing of graphics, utilising heaps of free filters, a large range of fonts as well as fun overlays and stickers. On top of that, you can do simple editing functions such as cropping, resizing and adjusting contrast.
Meanwhile, Pixlr Editor provides a full-blown editing program from the convenience of your browser. A closer replicant to Photoshop, Pixlr Editor allows you to do more complex editing, while playing with layers and alpha transparency.
Between the two programs, the Pixlr Suite is an incredible online resource that ensures you have all the tools needed to do whatever image editing is necessary.
- 2. Canva
Canva is every digital marketer’s not-so-well kept secret, allowing you to easily create aesthetically pleasing graphics In just a few clicks.
Canva’s popularity comes from its simplicity, designed to streamline the process of creating professional looking images in a way that is extremely intuitive. You don’t have the complete flexibility of more advanced tools, but these are not necessary most of the time.
Canva is primarily free, but optional templates and stock photos can come at a cost. In this way, however, Canva is also a really easy way to access cheap stock images and instantly implement them into your graphics.
- 3. G.I.M.P.
G.I.M.P. isn’t as pretty as Pixlr or Canvas, but it’s the best free alternative to Adobe Photoshop available.
G.I.M.P. (standing for GNU Image Manipulation Program) is an open source program that provides nearly all of the functionality of Photoshop in a completely free package. When designing graphics from scratch or doing more complex image work, this program is a vital resource.
If you don’t have the budget to splash out on the Adobe Creative Suite, becoming familiar with G.I.M.P. is very worthwhile. The founders of G.I.M.P. also provide other alternatives to Adobe programs, such as Inkscape, which replicates Adobe InDesign. Important to note, however, is that unlike Pixlr and Canva, G.I.M.P. is a program that must be used offline and on a computer (rather than mobile).
With a combination of these three tools, you have everything you need to ensure that the graphics you use for your business look great.
